Earth Conscious Organics is owned by Bruce Henne and Paul Madden.
Paul is a fourth generation orchardist, taking over the family orchard on the banks of the Columbia River in 1990. Paul’s wife Janice runs the ECO office, grows commercial organic cut flowers and manages their household of four daughters (with Paul’s help).
Bruce has been in the organic produce business for the past 18 years. He has built trusting relationships with farmers and stores throughout Washington State. His passion is helping farmers sell their premium organic produce and raising consumer awareness about organic family farmers.
Ponderosa Orchards is owned by Ted and Lanna Goehry
Ted and Paul attended school together in Brewster. Like many attending school in that area, Ted was raised on an apple orchard owned by his family. His small orchard of 21 acres is located only 4 miles from Paul’s orchard with a breathtaking view overlooking the Columbia River. Ted’s dad bought the land in 1960 and over the next 5 years transformed 31 acres of sagebrush and desert into a successful orchard of apples, pears, and cherries. In 1990 Ted began farming organically at which time Paul and Bruce approached Ted about joining their venture – Earth Conscious Organics. Paul and Bruce were impressed by Ted’s love for farming and his integrity as a person. Ted and Lanna raised 4 children on the farm and hope soon to have grandchildren living there as well. Ted grows Cameo, Braeburn, Fuji, Gala, and Honeycrisp apples as well as 2 varieties of pears and Asian Pears.
